THE EXCELLENCE OF THE PROPHET’S FAMILY (AHLUL-BAYT)

The Almighty-Allah has commanded us to love the Family of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be upon Him) through the Holy Qur’an:

Say: “No reward do I ask of you for this except the love of those near offing.” Sureh Shura (42:23)

It is mentioned in the AHadith-Sharif:

Translation: You teach three things to your children: Love of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be upon Him), love of His family and the recitation of the Holy Quran. (Al Jame’ Ul Kabeer, Hadith No: 924; Jame’ Ul Ahadeeth, Hadith No: 961; Kanz Ul Ummal, Hadith No: 45409; Al Fath Ul Kabeer, Vol. 1, Pg No. 59)

The Almighty-Allah Most High says:

And The Almighty-Allah only wishes to remove all abomination from you, your Members of the Family, and to make you pure and spotless. Sureh Ahzab (33:33)

This verse of the Holy Quran establishes that the Prophet’s Family is protected from all kinds of defects, whether they are intellectual defects or defects of belief or any other kind of defect.

About the background of the revelation of this verse, Hazrat e Umme Salama (May The Almighty-Allah be well pleased with her) says:

Translation: This verse was revealed when the Holy Prophet (Peace Be upon Him) was present in my house. After this verse was revealed, the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) summoned Hazrat e Fatima, Hazrat e Ali, Imam Hasan and Imam Hussain (May The Almighty-Allah  be well pleased with all of them). Then the Holy Prophet (Peace Be upon Him) said: This is my Family (Ahl al Bayt). Hazrat e Umme Salama (May The Almighty-Allah be well pleased with her) asked: O Prophet of The Almighty-Allah (Peace Be Upon Him): Am I not from the Ahl al Bayt? He (Peace Be upon Him) said: Certainly, you are also from my Ahl al Bayt. (Zujajatul Masabeeh, Vol. 5, Pg No. 316)

Shiafollowers is created and maintained by a group of young Iranian university students from different academic disciplines along with some young students and scholars of Islamic studies, also based in Iran, who are eager to raise the historically less-heard voice of the followers of the progeny of the prophet of Islam (peace be upon them). Having come together based on their common cultural concerns about Shia communities within the Islamic world and in the wider context of the contemporary world, these young men and women are enthusiastically pursuing the goal of adding momentum to the struggling media streams that strive to represent a true image of Shia Islam.
